Montauk Point State Park is an 862-acre state park located at the eastern tip of Long Island in the Town of East Hampton, Suffolk County, New York. Montauk Point is the easternmost extremity of the South Fork of Long Island, and thus also of New York State. Visitors can use the nature trails to hike or cross-country ski, watch the seals bask on the rocks offshore.
Parking is available for walks along the rocky shoreline, viewing of the Ocean from the restaurant and gift shop, or a visit to the neighboring Montauk Lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse in New York State, commissioned by President George Washington in 1792.
